Lucknow: A joint electricity inspection drive was carried out in Patauraganj locality by the Sub-Divisional Officer, Junior Engineer of Ahibaranpur, and the enforcement team to curb electricity theft.
During the operation, five individuals were found stealing electricity through illegal connections. Among the offenders, Seema, wife of Rajan, and Raj, son of Rajan, were caught using an illegal electricity load of 5 kilowatts.
First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered against all five accused at the Electricity Theft Prevention Police Station in Lucknow under Section 135 of the Indian Electricity Act.
The vigilance team included Inspector Vijay Kumar Singh, Sub-Inspector Ashok Kumar Yadav, JE Pramod Sharma, Vigilance JEs Mohammad Mustafa, Akhilesh Mishra, Sachin Mishra, Rama Shankar, among others.
Authorities confirmed that such checking drives will continue regularly to prevent electricity theft and ensure lawful usage of power in the region.
